I consider myself an artist. I am a writer, a musician, a pastor, a songwriter, filmmaker, and I hope to always be expanding my expression of art. I am also a husband, father, brother, son, and I am determined to become a better man. Because of who I am and want to be, I must develop a deeper mindset when it comes to faith, art and culture. This blog documents the journey of thought I have begun, as I find out how they mix.

Hey Travis. I just read your post today. I didn’t know you had a blog. Anyways… I just had a thought. In relation to your comments and what Brandee was talking about, I was wondering if you have heard of a book called “Practicing the presence of people”? it’s not really about what it sounds. I’m reading it thru the MOM’s group, and it’s a different type of book, but he talks about knowing God, thru knowing people. That they are ALL made in God’s image and the more we love people the more we love God. It makes you think differently anyways. Have a good one. R
Very cool Ruth, I’ll check it out soon. You’re right, we do need to love eachother, and love people where they are, rather than moving them to a place where we can love them more comfortably. I love thinking differently, thanks for the feedback!
Yeah… I like making my brain think outside the box. Oh and the author is Mike Mason. I believe he lives in Langley of all places. I found the book awkward at the beginning… but I’m almost done and it’s pretty good. Some stuff I kind of knew already but some stuff was a wow… that makes sense. I’m a huge reader so I’ll read anything, but generally I read books from suggestions from others. I won’t just pick up a book (unless it’s a novel… haha) (oh and yes, I realized I posted in the wrong spot, I didn’t see til after there was a space under your post. ) R
travis- enjoyed your writings- continue your journey-seek and you will find!! ect…. It is hard to break out of how you are raised-its such a culture-but its okay to do this and still be able to be apart of it- to think and feel differently-and yet allow others to think differently- hey I`ve got my girls-and dave- to thank for my own challenges in this- its freeing…….love you both.
Hey Travis! Re the Identity revelation: you’ve touched on a vital issue and raised some great points! It is who we are, not what we do, that defines our life. Western culture has so often reversed these and lost its way. But we are human beings and not human doings. Our identity is reborn in Christ and what an exciting journey to discover and live out all who the Bible says we are in Him! The theme of our school, Brandee can tell you, was Identity Releases Destiny. In other words, know who you are ‘in Christ’ and following him will not be a problem; you WILL fulfill your God-called destiny, purpose in life!
You are indeed unfolding as better people, making a difference. “musician, a songwriter, filmmaker… husband, father, brother, son…” Create on Travis Create… Thank you.
